Killer in the Park Pt1 | Unarmed Man Shot by Police Fatally Carlsbad Caverns | Killed by Park Ranger
A Killer in the Park, the National Park - Episode 1 Podcast (The Charles "Gage" Lorentz story).
A sober unarmed man, who posed no threat, was brutally shot and murdered after being attacked and tasered multiple times by a fish and game Park Ranger in a National Park.
On March 21, 2020, when Charles “Gage” Lorentz, a twenty-five-year-old oil rig worker, on his way home to his family in Montrose Colorado after working months on an oil rig in Texas, was stopped by Carlsbad Caverns National Park where he was brutally killed. In this remote area of New Mexico, during the Covid-19 Shutdown, Gage could have never fathomed that when he was pulled over for speeding on a dirt road by a Park Ranger – he would never make it home. This Park Ranger shooting story is shocking and will leave you baffled when you see the details of what happened to Gage Lorentz. This Park Ranger shooting happened in a Carlsbad Caverns National Park in Carlsbad New Mexico.
Civil rights attorney, Spencer Park, walks you through the crime scene by showing you evidence that will be presented in the family’s civil court case against the government. Despite being killed by a Park Ranger without posing a threat, hiding behind the guise of qualified immunity the government refused to prosecute Gage's killer. You would think that news of a sober, unarmed man shot by police fatally in Carlsbad Caverns, a National Park, would have drawn national media coverage and the attention of elected officials that are publicly advocating for police reform at national, state, and local levels in the wake of Black Lives Matter, but that hasn't happened. The DOJ and the administration have the direct ability to prevent brutality in their own backyard by ending qualified immunity for government actors like Park Rangers, yet they have not done anything.
As one of the people of the United States of America, in this podcast, you will hear Mr. Park's brother express his perspective as a reasonable juror would, given the facts in the case.
This podcast is carefully constructed from almost 2 years of court records, FOIA requests, discovery from the civil suit, transcripts, Body Worn Camera footage, and interviews. In this series, we are going to discuss and expose the unconstitutional and dangerous failures of our current government’s law enforcement system that led to the killing of Gage Lorentz and the coverup by our government that appears to be more focused on defending its own and safeguarding bad government actors rather than protecting the People’s rights they are supposed to be serving.
